Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain oversight of the day-to-day bookkeeping, accounting, banking, and cash flow;
- Manage the accounting department, perform yearly reviews and report to HR;
- Responsible for preparation of monthly financial statements including journal entries;
- Ensure calculated payments, taxes and premiums are submitted by their deadlines;
- Oversee payroll process, including processing payroll (including weekly payroll, source deduction reporting, RRSP filing and payments, EHT reporting and year end T4 generation, ROE filing)
- Remain current on employment laws and ensure firm policies are compliant;
- Management of accounts receivable and accounts payable processes;
- Responsible for filing various LSO reports;
- Prepare budget and forecasting;
- Prepare and present financial information for monthly, quarterly and annual reports;
- Maintaining the corporate tax schedules and issuing payments;
- Assigns and authorizes cheques, purchase orders and invoices;
- Be the Administration Manager of the accounting / billing software program. Understanding all process flows as well as the security functionality;
- Hiring, training, mentoring and supervising accounting staff and;
- Additional duties as required.
Requirements:
- University degree in Business/Accounting along with a CA, CPA, CMA, CGA, CMT Designation or working towards the designation;
- 3-5 years of work experience managing an accounting team;
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);
- Extensive knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local accounting requirements;
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office and Excel;
- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently;
- Attention to detail in all areas of work;
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal); and
- Excellent time management, organizational and prioritization skills.
