Client Profile
Our client, a Toronto law firm, is currently looking for a Litigation Assistant. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare correspondence and legal documents court materials, and assemble documents both electronically and hard copy, including review and editing skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency;
- Manage electronic organization of all correspondence documents in document management system and in accordance with court filing procedures, signing and filing of documents;
- Prepare internal and external communications including letters, emails and memos;
- Manage client file deadlines and diarize key dates in Outlook;
- Prepare and deliver monthly client invoices and following up on outstanding accounts;
- Open/ close / maintain legal files;
- Schedule appointments and web meetings, conference calls and manage calendars for lawyers; and
- Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Graduate of a Legal Assistant Program;
- 3- 5 years of litigation experience within a law firm, with experience in corporate tax law an asset;
- Solid understanding of litigation including Rules of Civil Procedures, knowledge of the Federal Court Rules and Tax Court of Canada rules an asset;
- Strong proficiency with MS Office, DocuSign, ACL, Adobe Acrobat, document managements systems, experience with Aderant Accounting program an asset;
- Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented atmosphere
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills; and
- Client focused, professional, and positive attitude.
