Client Profile
Our client, a reputable Toronto firm is currently looking for a Practice Assistant in Securities. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drafting, formatting, proofreading, and editing legal documents related to securities filings, agreements, prospectuses, and other relevant documentation;
- Organizing and maintaining electronic and physical files, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements;
- Conducting legal research on securities laws, regulations, and precedent cases to provide support to attorneys in case preparation and strategy development;
- Analyzing complex legal issues and providing summaries and recommendations to attorneys.
- Assisting attorneys in the preparation of transactional documents, including securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and other corporate transactions;
- Interacting with clients, regulatory agencies, and other parties on behalf of attorneys to facilitate communication and information exchange.
- Drafting and responding to correspondence, emails, and inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Managing attorney calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating meetings and conference calls.
- Arranging travel arrangements and processing expense reports.
- Assisting with billing and timekeeping activities as needed.
Requirements:
- Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma from an Accredited Institution;
- Experience supporting multiple lawyers with specialization in the area of securities an asset;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, research tools and other systems implemented by the firm;
- Able to prioritize work responsibilities to meet the requirements of the supervising lawyers;
- Recognizes problems and abnormalities and exercises good judgment to resolve issues;
- Exceptional time management, organization, and prioritization skills; and
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills and is detail oriented.
