Client Profile

Our client, a Toronto law firm is currently looking for an Insurance Defence Legal Assistant. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 -           Provide administrative legal support to lawyers whilst monitoring deadlines and in a timely manner;

-           Transcribe, prepare, and revise legal documents, contracts, and correspondence;

-           Open/close/maintain legal files;

-           Schedule examinations for discovery, motions, and mediations;

-           Communicate professionally with clients and court representatives;

-           Assist with docketing, timesheets, and coordinate billing cycle

-           Post bills on our clients e-billing platform;

-           Updating and maintaining lawyer’s calendar;

-           Fax, scan, photocopy and bind documents

-           Communicate with clerks and lawyers to ensure the relevant information is properly coded with proper descriptions in dockets; and

-           Other duties as needed.

 

Requirements:

-           5+ years’ experience as a Legal Assistant/Law Clerk in an Insurance Defence role;

-           Legal Assistant Certificate or Law Clerk diploma from an accredited institution;

-           Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure;

-           Ability to work well in a team as well as with minimum supervision when required;

-           Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint); and

-           Excellent communication, attention to detail, interpersonal and time management skills.
