Client Profile

Our client, a regional prominent Ontario law firm is currently looking for an Insurance Defence Law Clerk. This firm has an excellent culture and a lot of career development opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

-           Provide administrative legal support to lawyers;

-           Maintain an effective bring-forward system;

-           Transcribe, prepare, and revise legal documents, contracts, and correspondence;

-           Open/close/maintain legal files;

-           Draft basic court documents, such as Notices of Intent to Defend, Motion Confirmations and consent Dismissal Orders;

-           Schedule examinations for discovery, motions and mediations;

-           Communicate professionally with clients and court representatives;

-           Assist with docketing, timesheets, and coordinate billing cycle;

-           Coordinate business travel accommodations; and

-           Other duties as needed.

 Requirements:

-           Legal Assistant Certificate or Law Clerk diploma from

an accredited institution;

-           5+ years' experience as a Law Clerk in an Insurance Defence role;

-           Solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and Rules of the Small Claims Court;

-           Ability to work well in a team as well as with minimum supervision when required;

-           Proficiency with Microsoft Office

(Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint) and DMS; and

-           Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
