Job Description

Production Supervisor – CNC Machining

Ossian, IN | Precision Manufacturing

Monday–Friday | 7:00am–4:30pm

$70,000–$90,000/year

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Production Supervisor to lead approximately 35–40 production employees across three shifts, with Leads on each shift reporting directly to this role.

This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership position for someone who understands CNC machining operations and can balance production, quality, safety, and people management.

You'll have responsibility for the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, training, performance management, attendance, productivity, discipline, and employee relations. You'll work through the shift Leads to keep production running efficiently while maintaining accountability across the department.

This is also a strong long-term growth opportunity. As the facility continues to grow, success in this position could lead to a broader Production Management role.

What You'll Be Doing

Production & Machining

  • Lead production across three shifts through the department Leads
  • Set daily priorities and monitor production performance
  • Identify and resolve bottlenecks, quality issues, and production problems
  • Work with Leads and Setup personnel to address CNC machining issues
  • Monitor productivity, quality, scrap, and downtime
  • Read and understand blueprints
  • Support continuous improvement and process efficiency

People Leadership

  • Interview, hire, onboard, and train employees
  • Coach and develop employees and Leads
  • Manage attendance and employee performance
  • Handle corrective action and disciplinary situations
  • Address employee relations issues
  • Conduct performance evaluations
  • Develop employees for advancement and future leadership opportunities

Safety & Quality

  • Maintain a strong safety culture across all shifts
  • Work closely with Quality to address defects and recurring issues
  • Ensure employees follow established procedures and quality standards
  • Participate in accident investigations and corrective actions when needed

Administrative

  • Track attendance, productivity, quality, and performance
  • Maintain required employee and production documentation
  • Help manage production priorities and scheduling
  • Communicate department performance and issues to site leadership

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of production supervision or manufacturing leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining operations
  • Experience leading employees in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with hiring, coaching, performance management, and discipline
  • Strong understanding of production and quality metrics
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Comfortable using spreadsheets, manufacturing, and other computer systems

Ideal candidates will have a background in CNC machining, machine setup, precision manufacturing, or another closely related production environment.

You don't need to be the strongest machinist on the floor, but you do need enough machining knowledge to understand the operation, communicate with Leads and Setup personnel, and make sound production decisions.

Why You'll Want to Work Here

  • $70,000–$90,000 salary
  • Monday–Friday, 7:00am–4:30pm
  • Leadership responsibility for approximately 35–40 production employees
  • Established Leads already in place on each shift
  • Stable, established manufacturing operation
  • Opportunity to directly influence production, quality, safety, and culture
  • Strong opportunity for advancement as the facility grows
  • Potential long-term path into Production Management

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4%
  • Paid time off and holidays
  • Life insurance
  • Short- and long-term disability
  • Education support
  • Safety eyeglass and work-shoe reimbursement
  • Employee referral bonuses
  • Bonus opportunities

The Bottom Line

If you're a manufacturing leader who understands CNC machining and enjoys developing people while being accountable for production results, this is a strong opportunity.

You'll have real ownership of the production team, the ability to shape the department's culture and performance, and a potential path into Production Management as the facility continues to grow.
