Family Law Attorney - Grand Rapids, MI
A respected and growing Michigan law firm is seeking an experienced Family Law Attorney to join its litigation team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney who wants meaningful client contact, hands-on case responsibility, and the chance to make a real impact in people’s lives.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of family law experience and a strong background handling matters such as divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support, property division, and related domestic relations issues. Experience with motion practice, negotiation, mediation, court appearances, and drafting pleadings and discovery is highly preferred.
The firm is looking for an attorney who is compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to manage a caseload independently while also working collaboratively with colleagues and support staff. Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a client-focused approach are essential.
Responsibilities
Represent clients in a broad range of family law matters.
Handle divorce, custody, support, parenting time, and related domestic relations cases.
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, settlements, and other legal documents.
Attend hearings, conferences, mediations, and court proceedings.
Communicate regularly with clients regarding case strategy, progress, and next steps.
Work closely with the legal team to develop effective case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with the Michigan Bar.
Minimum of 3 years of family law experience.
Strong litigation, negotiation, and drafting skills.
Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently and independently.
Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
