Job Title: Transaction Litigation Attorney – Lateral Associate / Senior Associate
A well-established Macomb County law firm is seeking an experienced Transaction Litigation Attorney at the lateral associate or senior associate level to join its busy business and municipal practice group. The ideal candidate has a mixed transactional and litigation background and brings an established portable book of business with room to grow within a collaborative platform.
Responsibilities
Handle a mix of business, real estate, and municipal transactions and related litigation matters from intake through resolution.
Draft and negotiate contracts, commercial leases, corporate documents, and settlement agreements.
Represent clients in state and federal court hearings, motion practice, mediations, and arbitrations.
Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and discovery, and manage case strategy in collaboration with supervising partners.
Maintain and grow existing client relationships; identify cross-selling opportunities with other practice areas within the firm.
Participate in business development activities, including networking, presentations, and community or bar involvement to expand your practice.
Qualifications
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in the Michigan Bar (or eligibility for admission).
Approximately 4–10 years of experience in a combination of transactional work (e.g., business or real estate) and commercial or municipal litigation.
Demonstrated ability to manage matters with appropriate autonomy, including direct client contact and responsibility for drafting and negotiation.
Established portable book of business with proven client relationships and potential for growth in a full-service environment.
Strong drafting, analytical, and advocacy skills, with excellent judgment and attention to detail.
Collegial, team-oriented mindset and interest in mentoring junior attorneys and working closely with support staff when needed.
