Litigation Legal Assistant — General & Complex Litigation
Position Overview:
Our firm is seeking a highly experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support attorneys in our General and Complex Litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing all aspects of state and federal litigation from inception through trial and appeal. We are especially interested in someone with experience beyond insurance defense—such as commercial, business, product liability, or professional liability litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, format, and file pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and other legal documents in state and federal courts.
Manage attorney calendars, deadlines, and docketing of court dates, discovery schedules, and hearings.
Coordinate discovery, including document organization, production, and summarization of records and transcripts.
Assist in trial preparation, including exhibit management, witness coordination, and trial notebooks.
Maintain client files (electronic and hard copy) and ensure confidentiality and compliance with firm protocols.
Communicate effectively with clients, courts, and opposing counsel on scheduling, filings, and case-related matters.
Support attorneys with administrative tasks such as billing entries, expense tracking, and correspondence.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5+ years of litigation legal assistant experience required; complex litigation experience strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and court e-filing systems (state and federal).
Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Professional demeanor and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
Experience in complex civil, commercial, or professional liability litigation.
Familiarity with trial preparation and case management software (e.g., ProLaw, FileSite, or Relativity).
