Senior Legal Assistant
We are seeking an experienced, detail-focused Legal Assistant to support busy litigators in a fast-paced practice. The right candidate will already be comfortable handling legal documents, court deadlines, and client communication with minimal hand-holding.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, format, and file legal documents (e.g., pleadings, motions, discovery, subpoenas) in state and/or federal courts.
Manage litigation calendars, including hearings, deadlines, and court appearances, and ensure all dates are accurately tracked and met.
Maintain and organize physical and electronic files so attorneys have quick access to current case materials.
Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, opposing counsel, and vendors on a daily basis.
Coordinate and schedule depositions, mediations, conferences, and other key case events.
Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, and trial binders; arrange logistics as needed.
Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, routing correspondence, and processing billing or invoices related to assigned matters.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of recent experience as a Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary in a law firm setting (litigation experience strongly preferred).
Solid working knowledge of legal terminology, court rules, and filing procedures (including e-filing).
Demonstrated experience managing multiple attorneys’ calendars and high-volume caseloads.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and comfort with legal practice/case management software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to grammar, formatting, and detail.
Ability to work independently, prioritize competing deadlines, and follow through on tasks without constant supervision.
Bachelor’s degree or relevant paralegal/legal assistant certification preferred but substantial experience will be strongly considered.
How to Apply
If you meet the experience requirements above, please email your resume and a brief cover letter highlighting your recent law firm experience and types of cases you have supported to kturner@klmstaffing.com. Only candidates with relevant legal assistant experience will be considered for this role.
