About the Role

The Plant Supervisor will oversee daily operations at a recycling and materials processing facility. This position is responsible for leading a team of operators and technicians to ensure efficient, safe, and compliant processing of materials. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and has experience driving production performance, safety, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct plant staff, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and conducting performance evaluations.

  • Manage daily recycling operations — including sorting, baling, and quality control of materials such as metals, plastics, paper, and organics.

  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, and local standards).

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinate maintenance and repairs, and oversee preventive maintenance programs.

  • Maintain accurate production records, monitor KPIs, and prepare daily/weekly performance reports.

  • Manage inventory of raw materials and finished recyclables; coordinate inbound and outbound logistics.

  • Train team members on safe operating procedures and emergency response protocols.

  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, waste management, construction, or recycling operations.

  • 1–2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.

  • Proficiency with forklifts, skid steers, cranes/excavators, or similar industrial equipment.

  • Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and workplace software for reporting, inventory, and scheduling.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA safety training or willingness to obtain certification.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting skills.

  • Proven leadership, communication, and team management abilities.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Working Conditions

  • Industrial facility environment with exposure to outdoor weather conditions.

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, or stoop for extended periods.

  • Regular lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.

  • Frequent exposure to noise, vibration, and moving machinery.
