Benefits and Payroll Specialist

�� Location: Westshore area – Tampa, FL 33607 (Hybrid, 3 days in office)
�� Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
�� Compensation: $55,000 – $85,000 annually (based on experience)


About the Role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Benefits and Payroll Specialist to join a growing organization’s Human Resources team in the Westshore area of Tampa, FL (33607). This role will be responsible for overseeing payroll operations and benefits administration for employees across the U.S. and Canada, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and an exceptional employee experience.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive payroll and tax experience, a strong understanding of compliance requirements, and familiarity with HRIS and payroll platforms such as Rippling, ADP, and Paylocity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle payroll for employees in the U.S. and Canada, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.

  • Oversee payroll tax filings, wage reporting, and audits.

  • Maintain payroll systems and data integrity across multiple platforms.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll and benefits inquiries.

  • Partner with HR and Finance to reconcile payroll accounts and support compensation analysis.

  • Administer employee benefits including health, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA/FSA, and leave programs.

  • Manage vendor relationships, billing, renewals, and benefits compliance.

  • Stay informed on regulatory and tax updates, recommending process improvements as needed.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting for benefits enrollment and payroll compliance.

  • Use data analysis to optimize payroll and benefits operations.


Qualifications

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.

  • Strong expertise in payroll processing and tax compliance.

  • Experience with multi-national (U.S. and Canadian) payroll is a strong plus.

  • Proficiency in Rippling, ADP, and Paylocity preferred.

  • Proven ability to manage vendors and implement process improvements.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.

  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and benefits administration best practices.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret payroll and benefits data accurately.

Soft Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

  • Self-starter with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Hybrid work schedule – 3 days onsite in the Westshore area of Tampa, FL (33607).

  • Candidates must live within a 45-minute commute of the office. (Verifiable address) 

  • Standard hours are 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with some flexibility.

Compensation & Benefits
