Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist

The EHS Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization’s health, safety, and environmental programs. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, federal, and state regulations while fostering a strong safety culture within the company. The EHS Specialist will provide training, oversee safety protocols, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Promote and maintain a positive safety culture through leadership and proactive engagement with employees.
Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
Act as the first point of contact during emergencies, providing guidance and support.
Collaborate with department heads to develop safety plans and control methods, ensuring adherence to safety regulations.
Assist in developing task-specific activity hazard analyses for various projects and document compliance efforts.
Organize and lead Safety Committee meetings to address safety concerns and improvements.
Conduct safety inspections, jobsite walkthroughs, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
Provide employee training on safety protocols, safe equipment operation, and regulatory compliance.
Investigate workplace accidents, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Maintain safety metrics and generate reports as required by OSHA and corporate policies.
Evaluate and address risk assessments and safety concerns related to work instructions, processes, and tooling.
Stay current with industry regulations and maintain relevant safety certifications.
Work with claim representatives to provide necessary information for workers’ compensation and other safety-related claims.
Conduct and document regular safety meetings, new hire orientations, and specialized training sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA guidelines and other relevant safety regulations.
Familiarity with tools, machines, and equipment used in a manufacturing environment.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to train and educate employees on safety standards and expectations.
Strong computer literacy and ability to work with various software tools.
Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and foster a culture of safety.
Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, or Risk Management preferred.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role.
At least 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
OSHA 30 Certification is required.
