Job Title: Process Technician
Position Summary:
The Process Technician is responsible for developing and maintaining molding processes, installing and troubleshooting molds and auxiliary equipment, and ensuring all production meets quality and schedule requirements. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of scientific molding techniques, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-change manufacturing environment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Schedule Attainment: Ensure production runs are completed on time and according to schedule.
- Data & Paperwork: Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of processes and production data.
- Mold Protection: Safeguard all active molds to ensure they operate within established protection parameters.
- Workstation Cleanliness: Maintain clean and organized workstations to support safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize processes for new molds to meet specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate on-site with customers and program managers to develop and validate production processes.
- Apply scientific molding practices and decoupled processing techniques to ensure consistent production quality.
- Install molds and all necessary auxiliary equipment to achieve peak production performance.
- Monitor production molds throughout the shift to ensure continuous quality output.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to setup and process deviations.
- Set and adjust process parameters using approved process sheets.
- Perform material purges and ensure effective material changeovers.
- Train machine operators on best practices and molding operation essentials.
- Understand and interpret part drawings for correct setup and validation.
- Maintain mold protection settings at minimum operating values at all times.
- Develop and document optimal process parameters for each mold and material.
- Maintain compliance with IQMS and ISO standards.
- Operate forklifts and program robotics, including end-of-arm tooling.
- Support the Senior Process Engineer as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification in plastics or manufacturing preferred.
- Experience in injection molding or similar manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience with scientific molding and decoupled processing techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process documentation.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to install and program automation equipment and robotic tooling.
- Physical ability to perform job duties, including lifting, standing, and working around machinery.
