Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients before, during, and after surgery. The OR Nurse will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in the operating room.
Responsibilities:
Preoperative Care:
- Assess patients physical and emotional status prior to surgery.
- Prepare the operating room with necessary supplies and equipment.
- Educate patients and their families on the surgical procedure, addressing any concerns.
Intraoperative Care:
- Assist the surgical team by providing instruments, sutures, and other supplies during surgery.
- Monitor patients vital signs, anesthesia levels, and overall condition throughout the procedure.
- Maintain a sterile environment to prevent infection.
Postoperative Care:
- Assist in the safe transfer of patients to the recovery room or post-anesthesia care unit (PACU).
- Provide post-operative care, including monitoring for complications and administering medications as prescribed.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and recovery instructions.
Administrative:
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including surgical counts and patient charts.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care from pre-op to post-op.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, including participating in surgical team briefings and debriefings.
Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
- Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) certification is preferred.
- Previous experience in perioperative or operating room nursing is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to handle high-pressure situations and respond effectively in emergencies.
