Position: MRI Technologist
Shift Hours: Varies
Position Type: Full-time, Temporary Contract
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MRI Technologist to join our team and provide high-quality imaging services to patients. The MRI Technologist plays a crucial role in the diagnostic process, working closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to capture accurate and detailed images that aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of MRI equipment, protocols, and patient safety measures.
Responsibilities:
Imaging and Patient Care:
- Perform MRI scans on patients according to physician orders and established protocols.
- Prepare and position patients appropriately for MRI procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Operate MRI equipment to capture diagnostic images, adjusting settings as necessary to ensure optimal image quality.
- Monitor patients during scans to detect and address any discomfort, complications, or adverse reactions.
- Review and verify the quality of images, ensuring they meet the diagnostic needs and standards before submitting them to the radiologist for interpretation.
Patient Interaction:
- Educate patients about the MRI procedure, answering any questions and addressing concerns to alleviate anxiety or discomfort.
- Obtain patient history and confirm the absence of contraindications, such as metal implants, prior to scanning.
- Provide compassionate care and support to patients, particularly those who may be anxious or claustrophobic.
Equipment and Safety:
- Ensure the MRI equipment is well-maintained, properly calibrated, and ready for use, performing basic troubleshooting and reporting issues as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including the screening of patients for contraindications and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all infection control procedures.
Administrative:
- Accurately complete and maintain patient records, including scan documentation and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Coordinate with radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure timely and effective imaging services.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to stay current with advancements in MRI technology and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid certification as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist (ARRT-MR or equivalent) in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Previous experience operating MRI equipment and working in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Basic computer and internet literacy.
- Valid drivers license.
- Must pass employment screenings, including FBI clearance if applicable.
