Who We Are
Derby City Pump & Valve Service (DCP), a division of Precision Services Inc. is a busy pump repair and fabrication shop supporting industrial and municipal clients. We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Welder to support our fabrication, repair, and production operations in Louisville, Kentucky. The Welder is responsible for fitting, welding, fabricating, and repairing metal components and assemblies according to drawings, specifications, work orders, and quality standards.
What Youll Do
- Perform welding and fabrication work on metal components, equipment, frames, piping, assemblies, and related products as assigned.
- Perform MIG, TIG, stick, flux-core, or other welding processes based on job and material requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, measurements, work orders, and specifications.
- Fit, align, position, and secure components prior to welding.
- Measure, cut, grind, bevel, prepare, and finish materials using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Inspect welds and completed assemblies to verify quality, dimensions, alignment, and conformance with specifications.
- Identify welding defects, material issues, or fabrication discrepancies and communicate concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform rework and repairs when necessary to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting equipment, torches, saws, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Select appropriate welding equipment, settings, filler materials, and techniques for assigned work.
- Maintain welding equipment, tools, and work areas in clean and safe operating condition.
- Follow established production schedules and prioritize work to meet customer and operational deadlines.
- Minimize material waste and use company equipment and supplies responsibly.
- Work collaboratively with production, fabrication, maintenance, quality, and supervisory personnel.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of required personal protective equipment.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, injuries, equipment problems, and quality concerns.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement activities.
- Perform additional fabrication, shop, production, or maintenance duties as assigned.
What Youll Need
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Previous professional welding, fabrication, or related industrial experience.
- Working knowledge of common welding processes and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to read a tape measure and accurately perform measurements.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, specifications, and welding symbols.
- Ability to use grinders, cutting tools, torches, clamps, and other common fabrication equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to identify weld quality issues and make necessary corrections.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report to work as scheduled.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
- Technical school, trade school, or welding program completion.
- AWS or other applicable welding certifications.
- Experience in pump, piping, industrial equipment, pressure equipment, or related manufacturing environments.
- Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, or other metals applicable to company operations.
- Experience with fitting and fabrication in addition to welding.
