Location: Houston, TX (Local Preferred)
Remote: Considered for exceptional candidates within the continental United States
Compensation: $175,000 - $225,000 + Bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity
High Sierra Talent is partnering with a rapidly growing software organization seeking a Quality Assurance Director to lead and evolve a high-performing QA organization.
This is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving software quality, expanding automation capabilities, implementing modern testing practices, and leading a team of more than 15 quality professionals. The organization is heavily investing in AI-enabled development and testing processes, making this an excellent opportunity for a QA leader who embraces innovation and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership experience and a passion for building scalable quality programs that support fast-paced software delivery.
Responsibilities
Quality Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of 15+ QA professionals, including manual testers and automation engineers.
- Establish and maintain quality standards across the software development lifecycle.
- Drive accountability for release readiness and overall product quality.
- Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to align testing strategies with release objectives.
- Make informed go/no-go release decisions based on quality metrics and risk assessments.
Test Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Expand and mature automated testing frameworks and processes.
- Drive adoption of modern testing methodologies and best practices.
- Implement performance, load, and regression testing strategies.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, coverage, and product quality.
- Leverage AI-powered testing solutions to improve testing effectiveness and accelerate delivery.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, product management, and executive leadership teams.
- Communicate quality risks, testing results, and release readiness to stakeholders.
- Develop reporting, metrics, and dashboards that provide visibility into product quality.
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and operational excellence.
Team Development
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship.
- Build career development plans that support growth and retention.
- Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning throughout the QA organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of experience in software quality assurance, software engineering, or related technical roles.
- 5+ years of experience leading QA teams in enterprise software environments.
- Experience managing teams of 10+ quality professionals.
- Strong background in B2B SaaS platforms serving enterprise customers.
- Deep understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC processes, and quality management practices.
- Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks and automated testing strategies.
- Proven ability to build and scale quality programs in fast-paced software organizations.
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Technical Experience
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Selenium
- Playwright
- C#
- JMeter
- Performance and load testing
- Automated regression testing
- CI/CD testing practices
- AI-assisted testing tools and workflows
- Modern QA metrics and reporting frameworks
