Job Description

Business Analyst, Retail Energy | Houston, TX (Hybrid)

If you've spent years sitting at the intersection of business strategy and technology in the energy space, and you're ready to stop being buried in corporate bureaucracy and actually drive outcomes, this one's worth a close look.

We're placing a Business Analyst with deep retail energy experience into a hybrid consulting role based in Houston. This person will work directly with clients to shape transformation initiatives, own the requirements process, and help bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. The work is visible, the impact is real, and the team operates with a flat, collaborative structure where your expertise actually gets used.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Facilitating client workshops and stakeholder meetings to gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements
  • Developing business requirement documents (BRDs), user stories, and process models that support solution design
  • Analyzing current and future state processes to identify gaps and recommend practical improvements
  • Collaborating with business and technical teams to ensure requirements are accurately translated into solutions
  • Producing polished deliverables including reports, presentations, and consulting documentation

What You Need to Bring

  • 4 or more years of experience as a Business Analyst, with direct exposure to the retail energy sector
  • Hands-on experience with CIS/Billing, EDI, Customer Care, or energy retail products in C&I or Mass Market
  • Strong skills in requirements gathering, process mapping, and working with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality documentation and consulting-grade deliverables
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Comfort working in a consulting or professional services environment

Nice to Have

  • Background in wholesale energy, settlements, or utilities
  • Experience with business case development and structured consulting methodologies
  • Familiarity with data modeling or basic scripting
  • History of contributing to reusable consulting assets like templates or frameworks
  • Advanced degree in a related field

Why This Role Stands Out

You'll be working on meaningful client engagements in the energy sector, supported by a team that values your input and invests in your growth. The culture is entrepreneurial and collaborative, with access to continuous learning, industry certifications, and real career development.
