Job Description
Senior/Staff MacOS Desktop Software Engineer
The Opportunity
This is a rare chance to own the most mission-critical piece of software at a well-funded, high-growth AI company. You'll be the lead engineer on a native MacOS desktop assistant used by thousands of professionals every day, with real stakes and real impact. Think "always-on" capture agent, not a side project.
The company has raised over $150M from top-tier investors and is signing six and seven-figure contracts with major professional services firms. The product is working, the market is expanding, and they need a senior engineer who can take the desktop experience to the next level.
What You'll Do
- Lead development of a native MacOS desktop agent that reliably captures and threads professional work activity in real time
- Design and build core capture systems using Swift, SwiftUI, AppKit, and macOS system-level APIs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and backend teams to ship features that directly power the core product
- Contribute to backend services that handle ingestion and enrichment of captured activity data
- Help define architecture and raise the engineering bar as a senior technical voice on the team
Required Qualifications
- 6+ years of native MacOS desktop software development experience
- Shipped user-facing desktop applications at scale (millions of users)
- Deep expertise in Swift, Objective-C, SwiftUI, Cocoa/AppKit, and core macOS APIs
- Experience with systems programming: C, Rust, POSIX/Darwin system calls, or macOS system extensions such as File Provider or DriverKit
- Prior experience in a lead or senior engineering role (while staying hands-on)
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and clear technical communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building long-lived, always-on desktop applications (think: background agents, sync clients, or security tools)
- Full-stack exposure: TypeScript, React, or Node.js
- Familiarity with generative AI or LLM-based products
- PKG/DMG packaging and macOS distribution experience
The Details
- Compensation: $215,000 to $250,000 base salary, plus competitive equity
- Location: Fully remote, US or Canada (PST to EST hours)
- Visa sponsorship: Not available at this time
