Senior Electrical Engineer – Electro-Optical Systems (Northern Virginia)

We are partnering with a leading aerospace and defense technology company in Northern Virginia to place a Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in electro-optical systems, analog circuit design, and power supply design. This is a rare opportunity to work on cutting-edge laser systems supporting NASA and DoD programs in a hands-on R&D environment.


About the Role

This Senior Electrical Engineer position is embedded within a high-performing R&D team focused on the design and development of electro-optical and laser systems. You will manage a mix of short-turn and long-term engineering projects in a collaborative, well-supported environment where senior engineers are empowered to lead in their area of expertise.


Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, verify, and upgrade electronics for electro-optical systems
  • Lead circuit board design from concept through integration and testing
  • Develop firmware for FPGA and CPU-based embedded systems
  • Design cable and harness assemblies
  • Perform board and system-level troubleshooting and testing
  • Participate in field tests and experiments
  • Produce and maintain thorough engineering documentation

Senior Electrical Engineer Requirements

  • BSEE required; MSEE preferred
  • 10-20 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Strong background in analog design and power supply design
  • Proven experience with PCB design, integration, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with electrical lab equipment in embedded systems development
  • Ability to work fully on-site in Northern Virginia and participate in field testing

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with hi-rel military electronics or space-flight electronics
  • FPGA/CPLD design, simulation, and troubleshooting
  • Embedded firmware development for CPU/microcontroller platforms
  • LIDAR systems experience
