Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a background in painting or drywall trades to join our team. This role will be responsible for accurately assessing project requirements, performing detailed takeoffs, and preparing competitive bids. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent organization, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers to ensure timely and accurate bid submissions.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Highly skilled in quantity takeoffs and cost estimating for painting and drywall projects

  • Proficient in On-Screen Takeoff software and familiar with other industry tools such as Procore, Building Connected, or Autodesk

  • Comfortable reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid packages to identify scope, materials, and labor needs

  • Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple bids simultaneously

  • A clear communicator who can collaborate with project managers, suppliers, and clients

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed takeoffs from plans, drawings, and specifications

  • Prepare quantity spreadsheets, bid templates, and complete bid packages for review

  • Identify and highlight cost-driving quantities and potential project challenges

  • Submit RFIs and seek clarifications to eliminate ambiguities in project documents

  • Request material quotes (including wall coverings) and incorporate supplier pricing into bids

  • Maintain and update the shared bid calendar and track public bid site opportunities

  • Attend pre-bid walkthroughs, scope review meetings, and site visits as needed

  • Assist project managers with submittal packages and transition awarded bids to active projects in Procore

  • Stay current with takeoff technology, software advancements, and industry best practices

Requirements

Required:

  • Proven estimating experience in painting or drywall trades

  • Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff software

  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bidding processes

  • High attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Preferred:

  • Experience with Procore, Building Connected, and Autodesk

  • Knowledge of prevailing wage projects, specialty coatings, and wallcoverings

  • Familiarity with both new construction and renovation/repaint work
