Job Description
Operations Manager
Location: North Austin / Williamson County (Leander, Round Rock, Georgetown, Hutto, Cedar Park)
Franchise: College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving
About the Role:
We're seeking a hands-on, adaptable, and motivated Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our fast-paced moving franchise. Based out of our office near Pflugerville/Round Rock, this role is responsible for overseeing daily logistics, team performance, client satisfaction, and long-term growth. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a hybrid role—balancing office management and logistics with in-the-field leadership and customer-facing support.
This is not a desk-only role. You’ll be managing crews, training new hires, solving real-time challenges, and occasionally hopping in a truck or making onsite customer estimates. If you’re someone who can relate to both your crew and your customers, and who finds energy in solving problems and building efficient systems, this is your opportunity to make a real impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Culture
- Recruit, train, and retain hourly team members who align with our values
- Set expectations and hold team members accountable to quality and professionalism
- Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, and growth—both personally and professionally
- Lead daily morning dispatch, weekly meetings, and performance coaching sessions
- Create a high-energy, respectful environment that motivates crews while prioritizing safety and service
Operations Management
- Manage scheduling, logistics, and daily operations for moving jobs
- Oversee crew assignments, job routing, truck returns, and supply management
- Handle customer concerns and modify quotes as needed to ensure a smooth experience
- Occasionally support field operations or onsite estimates when needed
- Help develop new systems and processes to support growth and efficiency
Sales & Customer Engagement
- Represent the brand with professionalism during customer interactions and on-site estimates
- Occasionally assist with estimates for larger or more complex moves
- Ensure team members are well-trained in service delivery and brand standards
- Collaborate on local outreach efforts to grow brand awareness and customer referrals
Financial & Performance Oversight
- Track KPIs including job counts, crew efficiency, customer feedback, and labor costs
- Support budget adherence and highlight areas for cost savings or improved profitability
- Assist owner in achieving operational milestones that allow for business scaling
Who You Are:
- A hands-on operator who’s not afraid to jump in and solve problems
- Comfortable with manual labor as needed, but also skilled at office management and delegation
- Clear, professional communicator—especially in customer-facing moments
- Comfortable giving feedback to a crew and earning their respect
- Hungry for growth and excited about building something long-term
- Ready to lead on Saturdays when needed (this is a key day for moving operations; you'll typically have a flex day off during the week)
What You’ll Need:
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and be physically active when needed
- 3–5 years of experience in operations, logistics, or home services (moving, trades, delivery, etc.)
- Proven leadership and team-building skills
- Comfortable with scheduling systems, spreadsheets, and tracking metrics
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-first mindset
- Spanish fluency is a plus but not required
Compensation & Schedule:
- Base Salary: $50,000–$60,000 annually, depending on experience
- Bonus & incentive potential based on company performance and individual impact
- PTO: 2 weeks per year
- Monday–Friday schedule, with Saturdays required during peak periods or as needed
- Company vehicle provided for work-related field travel
