Job Description

Who We Are

First Place Pediatrics (FPP) is a growing platform of pediatric home care companies focused on delivering consistent, high-quality care to medically complex children. We partner with entrepreneurial operators and integrate thoughtfully — balancing strong local leadership with centralized finance, systems, and support. As we grow through acquisition, our Finance team plays a critical role in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and stability during transition periods.

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly hands-on Accounting Manager to support day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. This role reports to the VP of Finance and is critical to maintaining payroll accuracy, balance sheet integrity, and compliance across the organization.

The Accounting Manager will play a key role in post-closing M&A integrations, supporting newly acquired businesses prior to full integration into the FPP ecosystem. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working with large datasets, quick to learn new systems, and willing to roll up their sleeves in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & Payroll Accounting

  • Manage payroll accounting for newly acquired entities during post-closing integration

  • Learn and work within inherited payroll systems

  • Validate historical payroll data and opening balances

  • Develop standardized payroll accounting processes for the transition period

  • Ensure compliance with payroll tax filings, benefits deductions, and statutory requirements

  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and variances

  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll and compensation

Cash & Bank Reconciliations

  • Manage bank reconciliations for newly acquired entities

  • Own cash-related journal entries and reconciliations

  • Investigate and resolve cash discrepancies and variances

  • Partner with AP, Revenue Cycle, and the VP of Finance to resolve reconciling items

Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Participate in the monthly close, including preparation and review of journal entries

  • Ensure payroll, cash, prepaid, fixed asset, and other balance sheet accounts are accurate and audit-ready

  • Prepare reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analyses

  • Complete assigned close tasks within established deadlines

  • Support ad hoc accounting and finance projects as needed

Systems, Data & Process Improvement

  • Work extensively in NetSuite, ADP, QuickBooks, and other payroll systems

  • Develop scalable payroll accounting processes during system transitions

  • Use advanced Excel skills to analyze large datasets and perform reconciliations

  • Identify opportunities to improve automation, controls, and efficiency

  • Document processes and contribute to Finance SOPs and the company knowledge base

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with hands-on payroll and general accounting responsibility

  • Experience with NetSuite, ADP, QuickBooks, and/or other payroll systems

  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large volumes of data

  • Experience with M&A integrations or multi-entity environments strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals (debits and credits)

  • Detail-oriented, accountable, and able to meet close deadlines
