Director of Education (DOE) – 

First Place Pediatrics, LLC
�� San Diego, CA (Hybrid / On-site as needed)

First Place Pediatrics, LLC is a leading provider of in-home healthcare services dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Education (DOE) to lead clinical education, competency, and quality initiatives across our private duty nursing programs.

This role is ideal for a clinically strong RN who thrives in education, mentorship, and quality improvement—and who is excited to make a meaningful impact on pediatric home-based care.

About the Role

As the Director of Education, you will oversee clinical education programs, skills validation, quality assurance, and new graduate nurse development for our nursing teams. You will serve as a clinical leader and subject matter expert, ensuring nurses are confident, competent, and supported in delivering high-quality care in the home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve clinical education programs for private duty nursing staff.

  • Establish standardized curricula aligned with patient acuity, scope of practice, payer requirements, and evidence-based care.

  • Oversee the planning, operation, and evaluation of the clinical skills lab, including high-acuity pediatric and adult scenarios.

  • Design and manage annual competencies, ongoing skills validation, and compliance tracking.

  • Develop and oversee a structured New Graduate Nurse Orientation and Residency Program.

  • Lead Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, including documentation audits and corrective action planning.

  • Ensure documentation compliance with state and federal regulations, payer guidelines, and company policies.

  • Partner closely with Operations, HR, Compliance, Recruitment, and Clinical Leadership.

  • Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and patient-centered care.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active, unrestricted RN license in applicable state(s).

  • Minimum of 2 years of private duty or home-based nursing experience.

  • Experience in clinical education, staff training, or competency validation.

  • Strong understanding of private duty nursing regulations and documentation standards.

  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.

Preferred

  • BSN required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Leadership experience in home health or private duty nursing.

  • Experience managing skills labs, simulation training, or nurse residency programs.

  • QA/QAPI experience and familiarity with accreditation standards (Joint Commission, ACHC, CHAP).
