Job Description

Established Dallas Energy investment company is looking for an experienced Oil & Gas Accountant. The Senior Accountant will work with the Accounting and Finance team, and across disciplines as necessary, to support the accounting operations including non-operated and royalty pools of capital. This position is full time in office but will allow some flexibility on daily work schedule. This is a very reputable organization and a great opportunity to join a growing company!

Responsibilities include:

  • Gaining an understanding of the company's strategies, goals, and objectives
  • Gaining an understanding of the company's accounting tools, including the accounting software, OpenInvoice, EnergyLink, and the Data Warehouse
  • Working with the Controller to understand, develop, and maintain documentation of internal controls and processes
  • Supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual Financial reporting
  • Overseeing monthly close processes including
    • Preparation and/or review of
      • Bank Account reconciliations
      • General Ledger account reconciliations
      • Closing entries, accruals, and reversals of accruals
      • Revenue transactions
      • Joint Interest Billing transactions
    • Identifying and preparing and/or reviewing needed corrections
    • Identifying outliers and anomalies and efficiently addressing them
  • Overseeing the cycle of Accounts Payables (AP); ensure that payables are processed timely and according to authorization hierarchy
  • Supporting the Treasury function by understanding daily cash activity tracking and processing wires, ACH transactions, and transfers
  • Monitoring and supporting year-end audits, including
    • Preparation of audit-required financial schedules
    • Locating and supplying documentation and other support in response to auditor requests
    • Monitoring the statuses of auditor request lists
  • Monitoring and supporting preparation of Tax Returns
  • Responding to ad hoc requests from within the organization

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree; CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • 4-10+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word
  • Experience with Quorum On-Demand Accounting (a plus, but not required)
  • Experience with SQL Server and Microsoft Access (a strong plus, but not required)
