Engineering Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

Looking for hands-on experience with a growing environmental and civil engineering firm? This role offers a mix of field investigation, design support, and permitting work, ideal for someone early in their engineering career who wants exposure to real infrastructure and land development projects from the ground up.

Salary: Based on Experience
Location: Washington, Pa
Schedule: Monday through Friday, core hours 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (40 to 45 hours per week typical, some evenings and weekends required)

CLIENT OVERVIEW

Our client is an established environmental and civil engineering consulting firm serving public and private clients across Pennsylvania. They provide site development, permitting, and construction monitoring services and are known for a collaborative, field-forward approach to project delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support project managers and senior engineers in planning, designing, and supervising site development, grading, and construction initiatives
• Conduct site inspections and surveys to gather data for project planning and design
• Assist in developing design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for infrastructure improvements
• Review subdivision, land development, grading, and zoning plans, including stormwater management and erosion control
• Assist in preparing and filing federal, state, and local permit applications, including NPDES and waterway permits
• Perform construction monitoring and on-site engineering support to ensure regulatory and quality compliance
• Create, modify, and review engineering drawings using CAD software
• Prepare technical reports, maps, and field documentation
• Provide limited direction to subcontractors with supervisory support
• Take field notes and sketches of observed site conditions
• Tabulate field and laboratory data using Microsoft Excel or similar tools
• Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional out-of-town and all-weather work

REQUIREMENTS

Required:

• 1 to 4 years of experience in civil or environmental engineering or a related field
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or similar
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365
• Strong technical writing and communication skills
• Ability to work extended hours when needed and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Reliable attendance and ability to follow safety protocols
• Ability to travel to job sites, including work in varied outdoor conditions

Preferred:

• EIT certification or similar
• Familiarity with HydroCAD, Stormflow, GIS, or Civil 3D
• Familiarity with water or wastewater engineering
