Control Room Operator II - Production

Salary: Based on experience 
Location: Canonsburg, PA
Schedule: Rotating 4-on/4-off schedule, 12.5-hour shifts (days and nights), approximately 200 hours of mandatory scheduled overtime per year
Reports To: Production Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW
This is a great opportunity for a control room professional to take ownership of real-time monitoring and response for a growing production operation. The Control Room Operator II or III works within a 24/7 control room, using SCADA and trending tools to catch issues early and keep production running safely and efficiently. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on staying sharp, spotting patterns, and making sound calls under pressure.

CLIENT OVERVIEW

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor oil and gas production assets in real time using SCADA and related platforms
• Track key parameters including tubing and casing pressures, flow rates, artificial lift performance, and tank levels
• Apply a pump-by-exception approach, flagging deviations rather than reacting to steady-state conditions
• Detect, evaluate, and respond to alarms and abnormal operating conditions per company protocol
• Perform initial troubleshooting within defined authority limits, escalating as needed
• Identify equipment performance issues and potential failures using trends and analytics
• Coordinate with field personnel during startups, shutdowns, rate changes, and maintenance
• Maintain accurate shift logs, alarm responses, and handover documentation
• Communicate clearly with Production, Engineering, Field Operations, and Management
• Participate in training and competency development related to control room operations

REQUIREMENTS

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Working knowledge of oil and gas production systems, artificial lift methods, and SCADA
• Ability to interpret trends, alarms, and production data to support real-time decisions
• Proficient computer skills, including dashboards, trending tools, and Microsoft Office
• Strong situational awareness, decision-making, and communication skills
• Ability to work rotating 12.5-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Preferred:

• 3+ years of experience in oil and gas production, control room, or field operations
• Experience with pump-by-exception or condition-based monitoring
• Familiarity with production optimization concepts and artificial lift diagnostics
• Exposure to alarm management best practices (ISA-18.2 concepts)
• Experience supporting multi-asset or multi-basin operations
