CNC Lathe Operator / Setup
Position Overview
Take the lead on setting up, programming, and operating two to four axis CNC turning centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. This role is ideal for a machinist who takes pride in tight tolerances, quality craftsmanship, and keeping production running smoothly.
Salary: $23.00 to $29.00 per hour, based on experience, plus $1,500 sign on bonus
Location: Natrona Heights, Pa
Schedule: Overnight shift, 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM, 4 days a week

Responsibilities
- Interpret blueprints, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on CNC lathes
- Calculate and set controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut, or enter commands to edit computerized machine control media
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining, adjusting controls as needed
- Verify finished part dimensions using micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, bore gauges, and gauge blocks
- Deburr edges and holes, and protect parts from damage during and after machining
- Maintain equipment in good working order and organize tooling and fixtures using lean principles
- Collaborate with department leads, supervisors, and management to troubleshoot and report equipment issues promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Required:
- Ability to program, set up, and operate CNC lathes using G-code or Quick Code
- Ability to determine when a measurement is out of spec, including use of a bore gauge
- Blueprint reading skills, including interpreting multiple view orientations
- Ability to identify company, drawing number, and revision level, and to interpret tolerances and tap drill charts
- Ability to identify proper materials, overall sizes, hole count, hole size/depth, and thread specifications
- Ability to set basic tool offsets, change cutter comp values, machine zeros, tram pins, and offset values
- Understanding of basic G codes
- Experience with Fanuc and Haas controllers
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of Mastercam
- Multi-machine operating experience
