Position Overview

Dudley Staffing is recruiting an experienced CDL Driver for a valued utility construction client in the Pittsburgh, PA area. This is a hands-on, dual-role opportunity for a skilled driver ready to get more out of a workday than just miles. You'll operate commercial vehicles and work alongside construction crews on active utility job sites, building real experience in a growing industry. For the right candidate, this contract position offers a clear path to full-time employment directly with the client.

Pay: $28.00/hr
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Schedule: Full-time (overtime and weekends as needed)

Client Overview

Our client is a well-established utility construction company with decades of experience in natural gas, oil pipeline, telecom, and electric infrastructure. Now a subsidiary of a publicly traded parent company, they operate across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Eastern US and have built their reputation on meeting deadlines, maintaining safety standards, and developing the people who make that possible.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CDL-required company vehicles to safely transport equipment and materials to and from job sites
  • Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections and maintain full DOT compliance
  • Assist crews with loading and unloading tools, equipment, and materials
  • Dig trenches and ditches, backfill excavations, and compact soil as directed
  • Use hand tools and power tools including shovels, tampers, and jackhammers
  • Support site cleanup and restoration, including blacktop and landscaping work
  • Signal equipment operators during alignment and machinery movement
  • Follow all company and DOT safety regulations at all times

Requirements

Required:

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • Current Medical Card
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and work in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to perform physical labor alongside driving duties
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
  • Willingness to travel within service territories

Preferred:

  • Prior construction or utility field experience
  • Familiarity with DOT compliance requirements

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Pre-employment drug screening
  • Criminal background check and MVR check
  • Acceptable driving record
  • Company-paid project requirements: Blood Lead Test, Respirator Fit Test
