CNC Lathe Machinist

Position Overview

Pay Rate: $28.00 – $38.00/hour (based on experience and skill level)
Location: Clairton, Pa
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM | Flexible scheduling available after 30 days

Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and operate CNC lathe equipment to produce precision components per engineering specifications
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T callouts
  • Select and set proper tooling, speeds, feeds, and offsets to maintain tight tolerances
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining issues, making adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with shop standards
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to support first-article and production runs

Requirements

Required:

  • Proven experience operating CNC lathes in a production or job shop environment
  • CNC programming experience (Fanuc, Mazak, or similar controls)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs

Preferred:

  • Experience with live tooling or mill-turn machines
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
  • Background in aerospace, defense, oil & gas, or other precision industries
  • Experience with CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.)
