Road Permitting Coordinator
Position Overview
Our client, an established midstream energy company, is seeking a Road Permitting Coordinator to support pipeline construction and maintenance projects across the region. This role is responsible for securing and managing all permits required for work within public roadways and rights-of-way, ensuring compliance with municipal, county, and state transportation regulations while coordinating closely with engineering, environmental, and field operations teams.

Schedule: Monday through Friday
Responsibilities
- Prepare, submit, and track permits for road crossings, lane closures, excavations, and traffic control related to pipeline installation and maintenance
- Coordinate with city, county, and state Departments of Transportation to obtain right-of-way access and approvals
- Review construction drawings, traffic control plans, and pipeline alignment sheets for permitting accuracy and compliance
- Ensure work complies with roadway safety standards, traffic management requirements, and restoration specifications
- Manage permit timelines to align with construction schedules and avoid project delays
- Maintain detailed records of permit applications, approvals, conditions, and expiration dates
- Respond to agency comments, revise submissions, and follow through to approval
- Coordinate with environmental teams so permits align with environmental regulations such as erosion control and protected areas
- Support field teams by communicating permit conditions, restrictions, and approved work hours
- Assist with inspections, audits, and closeout documentation for completed work
- Track and report permit status to project managers and leadership
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in permitting, utility coordination, or construction support
- Familiarity with roadway construction, trenching, and utility installation practices
- Understanding of right-of-way permitting and traffic control requirements
- Experience working with local or state agencies
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple permits across different jurisdictions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GIS tools, and permit tracking systems
- Effective communication skills for working with agencies, contractors, and internal teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, environmental science, or related field
- Pipeline or energy sector experience
- Knowledge of pipeline construction methods such as open cut, horizontal directional drilling, and bore and jack
- Familiarity with PHMSA, OSHA, and MUTCD regulations and standards
