Payroll Manager
Position Overview
Step into a hands-on leadership role managing payroll for a well-established industrial contractor in Pittsburgh. This on-site position is built for a payroll professional who knows the ins and outs of union environments and enjoys owning the process from start to finish.
Salary: Competitive based on experience
Location: McKees Rocks, PA (on-site)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours (Flexible hours)

Our client is a long-standing industrial specialty contractor serving clients across power, energy, and heavy industry throughout the region.
Responsibilities
- Process weekly union payroll across multiple trades and locals
- Manage fringe benefit reporting, pension contributions, and union dues remittance
- Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon projects
- Oversee multi-state tax filings, W-2s, and year-end payroll processes
- Reconcile payroll accounts and partner with finance on month-end close
- Serve as the main point of contact for payroll questions from field and office employees
- Maintain accurate records and support internal and external audits
- Stay current on federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Requirements
Required:
- 3 or more years of payroll experience with direct union payroll responsibility
- Working knowledge of certified payroll, prevailing wage, and Davis-Bacon compliance
- Experience with fringe benefit and pension reporting across multiple locals
- Proficiency with payroll and HRIS systems
- Strong Excel skills and a sharp eye for detail
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Pittsburgh
Preferred:
- Experience in construction, industrial contracting, or a trades-based environment
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation
- Background managing or mentoring payroll staff
