Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Surface Landman to join a long-term oil & gas project in Southwestern Pennsylvania. This is a field-based role focused on surface negotiations, damage releases, and right-of-way coordination. If you thrive working independently in the field and have a strong background in surface land work, this opportunity offers stability and meaningful project involvement.
Salary: Based on Experience Location: Canonsburg, PA (SW Pennsylvania — field-based) Schedule: Monday–Friday
Client Overview
Our client is an established energy company actively operating in the Appalachian Basin with ongoing development projects throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. They are known for long-term project commitments and a collaborative approach to field operations.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate surface use agreements, easements, and rights-of-way with landowners
- Conduct surface damage assessments and secure damage releases
- Coordinate gathering line negotiations and pipeline corridor agreements
- Serve as the primary on-the-ground contact for resolving surface-related issues as they arise
- Collaborate with surveyors to support field operations and project progression
- Maintain accurate records of all surface agreements, negotiations, and correspondence
Requirements
Required:
- Proven experience in surface land work within the oil & gas industry
- Strong negotiation skills with a landowner-facing background
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision
- Familiarity with Appalachian Basin or PA surface regulations preferred
Preferred:
- Experience with gathering line and pipeline right-of-way negotiations
- Prior work alongside survey crews in active field environments
- Registered Landman (RL) or Right of Way Professional (RWP) designation
