Join a specialized heavy equipment team where your welding and fabrication skills directly contribute to building custom commercial vehicles. This hands-on role offers variety and challenge as you upfit chassis, install hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and bring technical specifications to life.
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Location: On-site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm (optional four 10-hour shifts available after probation)

Our client is an established heavy equipment company specializing in chassis upfitting and commercial vehicle customization. They prepare and modify chassis to receive specialized bodies, serving industries that rely on custom-built work trucks and equipment. Responsibilities
- Modify and prepare chassis according to work order specifications
- Install wiring, electrical components, and pneumatic controls
- Install hydraulic systems including plow lifts, body hoists, and cylinders
- Install lift axles and related components
- Clean, degrease, and grind weld joints and workpieces
- Examine welds for proper bead size and adherence to specifications
- Chip off excess weld, slag, and spatter to finish pieces
- Operate press, shear, saw, and other fabrication equipment
- Build small assemblies and components without drawings when needed
- Set up, adjust, and perform routine maintenance on welding equipment
- Operate overhead cranes, jib cranes, and fork trucks safely when authorized
- Check driveshaft clearance and ensure proper routing of airlines
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE at all times
Requirements
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of welding experience
- Ability to work with different metals and build various assembly types
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
- Ability to follow work orders and technical specifications
Preferred:
- 1 year of equipment upfitting experience
- Welding certification
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic system installation
