About the Opportunity

A private family foundation focused on rehabilitation services is seeking an entrepreneurial Executive Director to lead fundraising and grantmaking efforts. This is a unique opportunity for a corporate professional ready to transition into meaningful nonprofit work.

The Role

As Executive Director, you'll serve as chief strategist for both securing funding and distributing grants to organizations aligned with our rehabilitation mission. You'll report directly to the family board with freedom to build systems, relationships, and strategies that drive impact.

Key Responsibilities

Fundraising & Development

• Develop and execute fundraising strategies across private foundations, corporate sponsors, major donors, planned giving, and events
• Cultivate donor relationships and lead meetings primarily in the Pittsburgh region
• Write compelling grant proposals and create fundraising materials
• Leverage corporate relationships to secure philanthropic partnerships

Grantmaking

• Evaluate grant requests and conduct due diligence on potential grantees
• Develop grantmaking criteria and processes
• Monitor and assess impact of funded programs

Leadership

• Develop strategic plans for organizational growth
• Provide updates and recommendations to the board
• Build organizational infrastructure and systems

Qualifications

Required:

• 5-10+ years in fundraising, development, or corporate roles with transferable skills
• Proven track record securing significant gifts or partnerships
• Strong grant writing skills with demonstrated success
• Experience cultivating donor relationships
• Exceptional communication skills
• Self-starter who thrives with autonomy
