Surveying Manager

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Dudley Staffing is partnered with a nationally recognized environmental and engineering consulting firm to identify an experienced Surveying Manager to lead their growing Surveying Department. This is an excellent opportunity to oversee a high-performing team supporting energy, utility, and infrastructure projects across multiple regions.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Operations

  • Lead, train, and mentor survey field crews, CAD technicians, and office staff to ensure quality and efficiency.

  • Manage resource allocation, project scheduling, and coordination between field and office teams.

  • Oversee equipment calibration, maintenance, and adherence to safety standards.

Technical & Project Oversight

  • Direct ALTA/NSPS, boundary, topographic, right-of-way, and construction stakeout surveys for energy and infrastructure projects.

  • Review and approve survey data, legal descriptions, plats, and ROW documents for accuracy and compliance.

  • Interpret title reports, easements, and deed records while resolving complex boundary and right-of-way issues.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate survey data into design, permitting, and as-built documentation.

Client & Business Support

  • Serve as a key liaison with utility clients, engineers, and project managers.

  • Contribute to business development through proposal preparation, scope and fee development, and maintaining client relationships.

Ensure project budgets, schedules, and billing are properly managed and tracked.

Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Ohio license and/or PA license preferred
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) license preferred but not required.

Experience

  • 5–10 years of experience in surveying for utility, energy, or infrastructure projects, including supervisory or leadership roles.

  • Strong knowledge of ROW analysis, boundary resolution, and utility corridor surveys.

  • Proficiency with GPS, total stations, drones (UAS), and conventional survey equipment.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, and Trimble Business Center.

  • Experienced with RTK GPS, robotic total stations, and electronic data collection.

  • Strong understanding of COGO, boundary law, and survey principles.

Soft Skills

    • Excellent communication and client management skills.

    • Proven leadership and team management ability.

    • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
