Location: Sacramento, CA (Northern California)
Compensation: $180,000 – $220,000 + incentives & comprehensive benefits
We are partnering with a nationally recognized consulting firm to identify a Senior Engineering & Compliance Manager to lead and grow their engineering practice in Northern California. This leadership role is best suited for a senior professional with strong technical expertise, deep regulatory knowledge, and a proven ability to expand operations and client relationships in the California market.
Lead and manage engineering, environmental, and compliance projects for utility, energy, and infrastructure clients across California.
Oversee preparation and QA/QC of design documents, including stormwater management, grading, erosion & sediment control, and construction plans.
Direct permitting and compliance efforts across CEQA/NEPA, SWPPP, NPDES, CPUC, Caltrans, RWQCB, and other state/local permits.
Provide compliance oversight for construction and operations, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
Build and mentor a Sacramento-based team by providing leadership, technical guidance, and career development.
Drive business growth by developing new client relationships, pursuing project opportunities, and representing the firm at regional industry events.
Collaborate with senior leadership to execute strategic growth initiatives in the California market.
Ensure project budgets, schedules, compliance requirements, and deliverables are consistently met.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Master’s preferred).
California PE license required; additional western state licenses a plus.
10+ years of progressive engineering and regulatory compliance experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of growing business or regional operations, ideally in California’s utilities, energy, or infrastructure sectors.
Strong understanding of California environmental and regulatory processes (CEQA, CPUC, RWQCB, Caltrans, CARB, etc.).
Experience managing linear infrastructure projects such as pipelines, transmission, and distribution.
Strong leadership, business development, and client relationship management skills.
Lead and expand a Sacramento-based practice with significant growth potential.
