Location: Baton Rouge, LA (on-site, office-based)
About the Role:
A long-established, multidisciplinary engineering and surveying firm in Baton Rouge is adding a licensed Structural Engineer to its development group. Youll own the structural side of commercial buildings, municipal facilities, light-industrial plants, and public infrastructure, working shoulder to shoulder with in-house civil, survey, and construction services teams. The opening suits a range of backgrounds, from a newly licensed PE with about four years of design work to a 15+ year veteran ready to run projects. Pay and scope will be set to match your experience, licensure, and leadership history.
What Youll Do:
- Analyze and design structural systems for commercial, municipal, light-industrial, and public infrastructure projects
- Develop and check calculations, specs, and drawing sets through final construction documents
- Work with civil engineers and other disciplines to produce coordinated, buildable designs that meet IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC requirements
- Perform QA/QC checks on structural deliverables before release
- Support construction phase services: shop drawing review, RFI responses, and field observation visits
- For more experienced hires: direct design production across several concurrent projects
- Track budgets and schedules to keep deliverables on time
- Contribute to proposals and interact directly with clients
- Coach and develop junior engineers and EITs
- Act as lead technical contact for clients on assigned projects
What You Bring:
- Active PE license in civil or structural engineering; Louisiana licensure, or eligibility to obtain it through comity
- BS in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 4+ years of hands-on structural design on commercial, building, or industrial work; 6+ years with project leadership is a strong plus
- Fluency with RAM, RISA, STAAD, or comparable analysis software
- Revit experience plus working AutoCAD skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once under tight deadlines
- Clear, confident writing and speaking skills
Nice to Have:
- Industrial, petrochemical, or heavy manufacturing design experience
- Prior client-facing project responsibility
- Track record of mentoring or readiness to step into a lead role
- Eligibility for plant-site safety credentials such as BOP (Basic Orientation Plus) and TWIC
Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate. The package includes competitive base pay, performance bonuses, and expense reimbursement.
