- Diagnose and fix problems with field devices, wiring, network communications and control logic.
- Work from mechanical, electrical and controls drawings, submittals and sequences of operation to deliver systems that perform as designed.
- Take projects from startup to turnover, including point-to-point verification and functional testing.
- Work with project managers, design engineers and other technicians to keep projects on schedule and within spec.
- Serve as the on-site technical expert for building owners and facility teams and answer their system questions.
- Generate new business between projects: meet with facility managers, mechanical contractors and engineers; scope retrofit, upgrade and service opportunities; and help develop proposals.
- Deliver work that meets project specifications, timelines and quality standards.
What You Bring:
- Deep hands-on experience as a commercial BAS/DDC controls technician, programmer or engineer (typically 710+ years).
- Strong troubleshooting skills across controllers, field devices, BACnet/LonWorks/Modbus networks and programming logic.
- Comfort reading HVAC mechanical, electrical and controls documents and translating sequences into working code.
- A record of startup, checkout and commissioning on commercial projects.
- Customer-facing confidence and an interest in selling or growing an account base.
- Self-direction and organization to work remotely without daily supervision.
- Valid drivers license and the ability to travel locally across the territory.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Alerton, Siemens (Apogee, Talon or Desigo), Honeywell, Distech or Johnson Controls Metasys.
- Tridium Niagara (AX/N4) integration experience and certification.
- Background converting pneumatic or legacy DDC systems and implementing energy management strategies.
- Existing relationships with Houston or DFW building owners, facility managers or mechanical contractors.
- Prior sales engineering, estimating or service-agreement sales experience.
