Azure Cloud Engineer

Azure security experience is a plus

Location: Phoenix, AZ or Columbus, OH (On-site, Monday–Friday)
Type: Contract-to-Hire (6–12 months)

We are seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and optimization of cloud infrastructure within a highly regulated enterprise environment. This role will work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage Azure-based infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, and identity services
• Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep
• Support cloud migration initiatives from on-premises environments to Azure
• Configure and manage networking components (virtual networks, security groups, VPNs, private connectivity)
• Monitor system performance and ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability
• Implement cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, threat protection, and compliance controls
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to enable CI/CD pipelines and automation strategies
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment, and performance issues
• Maintain clear and organized technical documentation for systems, configurations, and processes

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering with a strong focus on Azure environments
• Practical experience with core cloud services (compute, storage, networking, identity)
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, or Bicep)
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, firewalls, load balancing)
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Familiarity with identity and access management concepts
• Experience using cloud monitoring and logging tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Industry certifications related to Azure cloud platforms
• Experience working in financial services or other regulated environments
• Experience with CI/CD tools and automation frameworks
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Understanding of cloud security standards and compliance frameworks
• Experience supporting enterprise-level cloud migration projects
