Overview
An established engineering consultancy specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure is expanding its project delivery team and adding an Estimator to support ongoing growth. This position plays a central role in identifying bidding opportunities, developing competitive proposals, and coordinating inputs across technical disciplines.
You’ll be the connective tissue between technical teams, vendors, and project stakeholders—turning complex drawings and specifications into accurate, strategic cost models that help win work.
What You’ll Be Doing
Opportunity Identification & Bid Strategy
- Monitor and manage multiple bid sourcing platforms to identify relevant project opportunities
- Coordinate with vendor partners and internal stakeholders to route and prioritize leads
- Perform go/no-go evaluations based on project fit, risk, and resource availability
Cost Development & Proposal Coordination
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and material requirements to build detailed estimates
- Partner with engineering and discipline leads to define labor, equipment, and material needs
- Develop and maintain cost models, templates, and estimating tools
- Prepare and submit RFIs and track clarifications throughout the bid lifecycle
- Lead recurring internal meetings to align on pricing strategy and proposal readiness
Technical Estimating Support
- Build and validate bills of materials (BOMs), particularly for electrical and controls scopes
- Apply historical data and benchmarking to improve estimate accuracy
- Leverage digital tools, including AI-assisted proposal platforms, to streamline content generation
Data & Process Improvement
- Maintain structured records of bid activity, outcomes, and performance metrics
- Gather post-bid feedback to refine future estimating strategies
- Support CRM and proposal content library management to improve efficiency and consistency
Work Environment
- Primarily office-based in a professional setting with dedicated workspace
- Occasional site visits for pre-bid walkthroughs in industrial environments requiring appropriate PPE
Travel
- Approximately 5–10% travel for site visits and pre-bid meetings
- Travel expenses, including lodging and meals, are reimbursed
What They’re Looking For
- Experience estimating or supporting bids in engineering, construction, or industrial projects
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Strong coordination skills across cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with cost modeling, BOM development, and proposal processes
- Exposure to water/wastewater, utilities, or infrastructure projects is a strong plus
- Comfortable working with digital tools, including CRM systems and modern proposal platforms
