A large, asset-intensive organization is seeking a Senior Maximo Application Support Analyst to serve as the technical owner of its IBM Maximo environment. This role sits within IT and is responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and long-term reliability of Maximo and related operational systems.
This is a hands-on technical support role, not a functional Maximo user position and not a pure software development role. The ideal candidate understands how Maximo works under the hood and is comfortable troubleshooting production issues, supporting integrations, and delivering enhancements without disrupting business operations.
Act as the technical subject matter expert for IBM Maximo, owning system availability, performance, and overall health
Support and maintain the Maximo application environment, including upgrades, patches, fixes, and enhancements
Monitor, triage, and resolve application incidents and service requests based on business impact and priority
Perform deep technical troubleshooting across application, database, and integration layers
Partner directly with business users to identify root causes of system issues and deliver effective technical solutions
Lead internal Maximo-related initiatives and enhancements from design through implementation
Design and support integrations using Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) and related middleware platforms
Develop and maintain automation scripts, configurations, and custom components as needed
Build, maintain, and optimize BIRT and ad hoc reports
Ensure system changes align with IT governance, change management, and release management standards
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and support procedures
Identify opportunities to improve system stability, performance, and maintainability
Support major incident response efforts and drive root cause analysis and long-term remediation
Collaborate with project management teams to define technical requirements and estimates
Provide limited user training and knowledge transfer when necessary
Not a maintenance planner or operations role
Not day-to-day functional administration of Maximo
Not a heads-down software development position
This role exists to keep Maximo running reliably in a production environment and to evolve the platform safely as business needs change.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent professional experience
Proven experience supporting IBM Maximo in a production environment
Strong knowledge of Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) architecture and design
Experience with Maximo configuration, custom applications, and Start Center customization
Hands-on experience developing BIRT and ad hoc reports
Strong database experience, including SQL, stored procedures, triggers, or scripting
Experience with application development or scripting (Jython, Java, or similar)
Experience supporting enterprise COTS applications
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Exposure to Maximo Application Suite (MAS 9.x)
Experience supporting transportation, logistics, or asset-heavy operational systems
Experience with integration platforms such as Boomi
ITIL Foundations certification
Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies and enterprise IT environments
Direct hire, full-time position
Hybrid schedule (Houston-based; onsite and remote mix)
