Project Manager – Heavy Industrial Manufacturing (2-Year Contract / Potential Direct Hire)

Location: Greater Toledo, OH Area
Employment Type: Contract (2-year), with potential for direct hire

Overview
We’re seeking a results-driven Project Manager to lead and execute multiple small capital projects across a heavy industrial manufacturing facility. You’ll coordinate cross-functional teams, manage project scope, schedule, and budget, and ensure safe, high-quality execution in a demanding production environment that fabricates high-performance alloy and engineered materials used in applications such as aerospace, automotive, energy, and industrial markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution, and close-out of small to mid-sized capital projects across the plant.

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, scopes, risk registers, and communication plans.

  • Coordinate internal stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, engineering, quality, safety, and external contractors/vendors.

  • Ensure projects comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and quality requirements.

  • Facilitate design reviews, procurement of materials/equipment, and installation strategies.

  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and project status to leadership.

  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve issues that could impact schedule, budget, or safety outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience in heavy industrial manufacturing or similar environment (steel, alloys, metals, fabrication, processing).

  • Proven experience managing capital projects from initiation through execution and close-out.

  • Strong understanding of construction, mechanical/electrical systems, process improvements, and industrial equipment installation.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while driving results.

  • Excellent stakeholder communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Proficiency with scheduling and project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or comparable software).

  • Commitment to safety and compliance in industrial settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

  • PMP, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar project management certification.

  • Experience working with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.

What You’ll Be Doing Day-to-Day

  • Running project kickoff meetings with cross-discipline teams.

  • Monitoring work progress, resolving bottlenecks, and adjusting execution plans as needed.

  • Ensuring contractors and internal teams comply with safety and quality standards.

  • Delivering weekly/monthly project updates and cost forecasts to stakeholders.

  • Celebrating milestones and ensuring smooth turnover to operations.
