Senior Structural Engineer (P.E.) – Water/Wastewater Infrastructure
Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite, Full-Time)
Travel: Approximately 15–20% for site visits and construction support
An established EPC firm is looking to bring on a Senior Structural Engineer with a Professional Engineering license to support growing project work across the Midwest. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on engineering environment, enjoys mentoring younger staff, and has a strong background in structural work for water and wastewater infrastructure.
The Senior Structural Engineer will take ownership of planning, structural design, permitting, and construction support for a range of environmental infrastructure projects. Work will center around drinking water, wastewater, conveyance, and related treatment structures. This position operates onsite five days a week and requires periodic travel for design reviews, assessments, and field support on active construction sites.
You will lead structural design efforts, guide junior engineers, interface with multidisciplinary teams, and help drive project execution across Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, and neighboring regions.
Lead structural design efforts for treatment plants, pump stations, conveyance structures, storage facilities, and related water/wastewater systems.
Oversee engineering calculations, technical reports, design packages, and project specifications.
Provide construction-phase support, including reviewing submittals, answering RFIs, and conducting on-site structural assessments.
Guide and mentor junior staff, delegating tasks and reviewing their work for quality and accuracy.
Conduct field visits during planning, design, and construction to evaluate existing conditions and verify design intent.
Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders to maintain project timelines and deliverables.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, with the ability to secure Ohio licensure if not already held.
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, preferably with water or wastewater treatment infrastructure.
Proficiency in reinforced concrete, structural steel, reinforced masonry, and aluminum design.
Strong knowledge of structural standards and codes (ACI, AISC, ASCE) and use of structural analysis and design software.
Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams.
