Junior IBM MQ & Middleware Operations Administrator

Overview
We are seeking a Junior Operations Administrator to support IBM MQ environments and assist with day-to-day middleware operations. This role is ideal for someone with 1–2 years of experience in middleware, application servers, or infrastructure support who wants to grow into MQ and enterprise messaging.
You’ll work alongside senior MQ engineers handling queue management, basic troubleshooting, and supporting the application server stack (Tomcat, Apache, WebSphere, or IIS).
Key Responsibilities:
IBM MQ Operations
Assist in maintaining IBM MQ environments across development, test, and production.
Support queue and channel creation, configuration, and basic troubleshooting.
Monitor queue depth, message flows, and system alerts.
Help with SSL certificate updates, patching cycles, and configuration changes.
Middleware Support
Provide operational support for Tomcat, Apache HTTP Server, IIS, or WebSphere-based applications.
Help manage deployments, virtual hosts, and connection configurations.
Assist in triaging issues impacting web or messaging applications.
Operational Tasks
Participate in incident triage and escalate L2 issues appropriately.
Contribute to system monitoring, alert reviews, and log analysis.
Support documentation efforts for runbooks, standard procedures, and troubleshooting notes.
Collaboration
Work with senior MQ engineers and application teams on change requests.
Coordinate with infrastructure and security teams on access, updates, and compliance tasks.
Required Skills
1–2 years of experience in middleware, application support, or systems operations.
Familiarity with at least one application server: Tomcat, Apache, WebSphere, or IIS.
Basic understanding of networking, SSL, and authentication concepts.
Comfortable using Linux or Windows command line.
Motivated to grow into IBM MQ administration.
Nice to Have
Any exposure to IBM MQ (object creation, queue monitoring, channel resets).
Scripting basics (Shell, Python, or PowerShell).
Previous experience supporting production environments.
