Position Title: OSI PI Analyst / Administrator
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid Schedule)
Industry: Oil & Gas – Owner/Operator
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
An established oil & gas end-user organization is seeking an OSI PI Analyst/Administrator to join their Digital Operations team. This role will focus on supporting, maintaining, and optimizing the company’s enterprise-level PI System used for real-time data collection, visualization, and analytics across multiple production assets.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OSIsoft PI System administration, data modeling, and integration with operational technologies (OT) and business systems. This is a strategic position that bridges IT and Operations, ensuring reliable data availability for operations, engineering, and analytics teams.
Administer, maintain, and support the OSIsoft PI System infrastructure (PI Server, PI Asset Framework, PI Vision, PI Interfaces, and PI Integrators).
Develop and maintain PI AF templates, hierarchies, and event frames to standardize asset modeling and improve data accessibility.
Support data integration between PI System and SCADA/DCS, historians, and business intelligence tools.
Monitor system health, performance, and data flow integrity; proactively resolve issues to ensure high availability.
Collaborate with IT, OT, and process engineers to ensure data accuracy and effective use of PI data.
Create and maintain documentation, system configurations, and best practices.
Support user training, dashboard development, and troubleshooting for PI Vision and related tools.
Participate in PI system upgrades, patching, and security hardening in coordination with corporate IT.
Provide input into the company’s data architecture and digital transformation initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
3–7 years of experience in OSI PI System administration and development within an industrial environment (Oil & Gas preferred).
Hands-on experience with:
PI Data Archive, PI AF, PI Vision, PI Interfaces/Connectors
PI System security and user access management
Data integrations with SCADA/DCS or control systems
Familiarity with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python, SQL).
Strong understanding of industrial data and process control systems.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work cross-functionally between IT and Operations.
Experience in midstream or upstream oil & gas operations.
Exposure to cloud-based data systems or PI Integrator for Business Analytics (Power BI, Azure, etc.).
Knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards and data governance best practices.
Work directly for an end-user organization (not a vendor or consulting firm).
