Industry: Systems Integration – Energy, Utilities, Agriculture, and Food & Beverage
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire

Position Overview

A Houston-based industrial systems integrator is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead growth initiatives across automation, control engineering, and field installation services. This individual will play a key role in identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities while maintaining strong relationships with existing clients in the Energy, Utilities, Agriculture, and Food & Beverage sectors.

This is a hybrid role that offers flexibility to work remotely with periodic in-office collaboration and client visits. Approximately 20% travel is required, with all travel expenses covered by the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to secure new projects involving industrial automation, controls design, installation, programming, and commissioning.

  • Research target markets and identify high-value opportunities through direct outreach, networking, and digital channels.

  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers, including Engineering Managers, Operations Leaders, OT Network Administrators, and SCADA teams.

  • Prepare and deliver professional presentations, proposals, and technical discussions that clearly outline the company’s capabilities.

  • Maintain close communication with internal engineering and project teams to ensure smooth handoff of awarded projects.

  • Track opportunities, client interactions, and pipeline progress through the company’s CRM system.

  • Represent the organization at trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events.

  • Consistently meet or exceed annual sales and revenue targets.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience in industrial automation, systems integration, or control system sales, ideally within Energy or Water/Wastewater environments.

  • Solid understanding of industrial control system architecture, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and communication networks.

  • Demonstrated success in prospecting, relationship-building, and closing technical sales.

  • Ability to connect with both field personnel and executive leadership within client organizations.

  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and written communication skills.

  • Comfort working independently while collaborating effectively with internal technical teams.

Preferred Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.

  • 5+ years of business development or technical sales experience in automation, controls, or electrical engineering services.

  • Experience with Oil & Gas, Water/Wastewater, or Industrial Manufacturing clients is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with CRM tools, proposal writing, and project scoping.

Why This Role

  • Join a respected and growing systems integrator with a strong reputation in automation and field services.

  • Hybrid flexibility—work primarily from home while staying closely connected to Houston-based operations.

  • Opportunity to drive growth across multiple sectors and directly impact company success.

  • Competitive compensation package and expense-covered travel.
