Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role
A growing engineering and manufacturing organization in Houston is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its technical design team. This position focuses on turning complex concepts into manufacturable mechanical systems. You’ll be involved in the full product lifecycle — from initial design through fabrication, testing, and implementation — ensuring reliability, performance, and innovation at every stage.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Develop detailed 3D models and production-ready drawings for mechanical assemblies and systems.

• Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and project teams to ensure practical, cost-effective designs.

• Perform design validation through analysis, prototyping, and performance testing.

• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, durability, and cost efficiency of designs.

• Generate and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, and revision records.

• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.

• Provide technical input and problem-solving support during manufacturing and assembly.

• Contribute to design reviews and share insights to enhance overall engineering quality.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.

• 3–5 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment.

• Skilled in CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent design tools.

• Strong knowledge of materials, tolerancing, and mechanical assembly methods.

• Working knowledge of FEA or CFD analysis tools is advantageous.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverables within tight timelines.

• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills.

• Collaborative mindset with a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges.

Preferred Expertise

• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.

• Experience using project management systems or design workflow tools.

• Understanding of applicable mechanical and fabrication standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
