About the Role
A growing engineering and manufacturing organization in Houston is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its technical design team. This position focuses on turning complex concepts into manufacturable mechanical systems. You’ll be involved in the full product lifecycle — from initial design through fabrication, testing, and implementation — ensuring reliability, performance, and innovation at every stage.
Develop detailed 3D models and production-ready drawings for mechanical assemblies and systems.
Collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and project teams to ensure practical, cost-effective designs.
Perform design validation through analysis, prototyping, and performance testing.
Identify opportunities to improve manufacturability, durability, and cost efficiency of designs.
Generate and maintain engineering documentation, specifications, and revision records.
Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Provide technical input and problem-solving support during manufacturing and assembly.
Contribute to design reviews and share insights to enhance overall engineering quality.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
3–5 years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or production environment.
Skilled in CAD platforms such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent design tools.
Strong knowledge of materials, tolerancing, and mechanical assembly methods.
Working knowledge of FEA or CFD analysis tools is advantageous.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverables within tight timelines.
Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
Collaborative mindset with a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles.
Experience using project management systems or design workflow tools.
Understanding of applicable mechanical and fabrication standards (ASME, ISO, etc.).
