Job Title: DC Power / Battery Technician
Location: Greater Houston Area (with regular local travel and occasional travel to neighboring states)
Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview:
We are looking for a DC Power / Battery Technician to support the installation, maintenance, and servicing of industrial battery systems across Houston and surrounding regions. This role is similar to a UPS technician but focuses on large-scale DC power systems used in critical environments such as utilities, telecom facilities, data centers, and industrial plants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and maintain industrial DC power systems, including stationary battery banks, rectifiers, and chargers.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs on industrial battery systems and related DC equipment.

  • Support battery replacements, upgrades, and commissioning of new systems.

  • Conduct load testing, impedance testing, and capacity testing on battery systems.

  • Verify and record proper date codes, serial numbers, and system documentation during installations and maintenance.

  • Safely handle, palletize, and prepare defective batteries for recycling in compliance with environmental and safety standards.

  • Maintain organized records of service activities, test results, and equipment performance.

  • Assist with logistics such as loading/unloading and transporting industrial batteries as required.

  • Follow strict safety protocols while working with high-energy DC systems.

  • Collaborate with field supervisors, project managers, and other technicians to deliver efficient service.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with industrial DC power systems, stationary batteries, or related equipment.

  • Experience with commercial battery systems will be considered, though industrial background is preferred.

  • Familiarity with testing methods (capacity, impedance, load testing).

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and follow technical procedures.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical or electro-mechanical equipment.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally and occasionally out of state.

  • Must be comfortable with physically demanding work including lifting, moving, and installing heavy batteries.

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous work in telecom, utilities, or industrial power environments.

  • Certifications in battery maintenance, OSHA, or electrical safety.

  • Hands-on experience with rectifiers, inverters, or UPS systems.
